The 1980 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXII Olympiad, were held in Moscow, Russia.

The United States of America and a number of other countries boycotted the games because of the 1979 Soviet Union invasion of Afghanistan. This led to the Soviet led boycott of the Summer Olympic Games of 1984.
