Aliya Fargatovna Mustafina was born on September 30, 1994 in Yegoryevsk, Russia. Mustafina was the 2010 World All-Around champion. In April 2011, Mustafina suffered a knee injury at the European championships that required surgery and forced her to miss the 2011 World Championships. Mustafina will be a member of the Russian Women's Olympic Gymnastics team. Mustafina won a silver medal in the team competition and edged out American Alexandra Raisman for the bronze medal after a tie breaker in the all-around competition.
