Australia is one of 5 nations that has competed in every Summer Olympics while they have started in the Winter Olympics in 1936. The Australia Olympic Committee was formed in 1895 which was before the first Olympics in Athens in 1896. Edwin Flack was the first ever Australian athlete to ever represent Australia at the Olympics as we gold in the 800m and 1500m. Since then Australia have won 136 golds,mostly in Swimming.
