Bulgaria first participated at the Olympic Games in 1924, although sources say that the Swiss-Bulgarian athlete Charles Champaud, who competed in 1896, competed for Bulgaria. The nation has attended every Winter Olympic Games since 1936.
Bulgaria has won over 200 medals, of which over 100 in wrestling and weightlifting.
The Bulgarian Olympic Committee was created in 1923 and recognized in 1924.
