Camille Muffat was a swimmer who competed for France. She qualified for the French swimming team at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. She completed a set of medals throughout her Olympic career, winning a gold in the 400 metres freestyle, a silver in the 200 metres freestyle, and a bronze as a member of the women's 4x200 metres freestyle relay team at London 2012.
On March 9, 2015, Muffat, along with two-time Olympic boxer Alexis Vastine and sailor Florence Arthaud, were perished in a helicopter crash while filming the reality TV show "Dropped" on the outskirts of Villa Castelli, Argentina. She was only 25 at the time of her death. The disaster occured eight months after Muffat officially retired from competitive swimming in July 2014.
