The Decathlon is one of the Athletics Combined Events of the Athletics sport. In the Olympics men compete in the event, while the women compete in the Heptathlon. However, in other competitions, women compete in the Decathlon.
The name decathlon comes from the Greek words deka (meaning ten), and athlos (meaning contest). Decathlete's compete in ten events that count for points to determine the winner of the decathlon.
The ten events of the decathlon include:
Day 1
- 100 metres
- Long jump
- Shot put
- High jump
- 400 metres
Day 2
- 110 metres hurdles
- Discus throw
- Pole vault
- Javelin throw
- 1500 metres
