The Women's artistic gymnastics individuals all-around qualification round was held on September 17th, with the final being held on the 21st. Each country was limited to three competitors, and the top 36 competitors advanced to the final.
The event was marked by two incidents. The first was an error in the set-up of the vault apparatus which resulted in numerous errors and even injuries to competitors before it was fixed. Competitors that had gone before the apparatus were fixed were allowed to retry their vaults.
