The Heptathlon is one of the Athletics Combined Events of the Athletics sport. In the Olympics women compete in the event, while the men compete in the Decathlon. However, in other international competitions, both men and women compete in the Heptathlon.
The name heptathlon comes from the Greek words hepta (meaning seven), and athlon (meaning contest). Heptathlete's compete in seven events that count for points to determine the winner of the heptathlon.
The seven events of the heptathlon include:
- 100 m Hurdles
- High Jump
- 200 m race
- Long Jump
- Javelin Throw
- Shot Put
- 800 m race
