Jiang Yuyuan was born on November 1, 1991 in Liuzhou, Guangxi. Yuyuan was a member of the Chinese women's gymnastics team that won the team gold medal in 2008. Yuyuan age was also a source of controversy during the Olympics when some Chinese media outlets reported that Jiang was 14. The IOC and Federation of Internationale Gymnastics cleared the Chinese gymnasts of any wrong doing after an investigation.
