Kyrgyzstan first participated at the Olympic Games in 1996, although Kyrgyz athletes have participated before, as Soviet Union (until 1988) and Unified Team (1992). This nation has participated in every Winter Olympic Games since 1994.

Kyrgyzstan has won a total of 7 medals, though the big majority of those have come in wrestling, with a single one in judo. The nation has yet to win a medal at the Winter Olympic Games, and has yet to win a gold medal at the Summer Olympic Games.

The National Olympic Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic was created in 1991 and recognized in 1993.
