The 1980 Winter Olympics (officially the XIII Olympic Winter Games and also known as Lake Placid 1980) were a winter multi-sport event held between February 13 and 24, 1980 in Lake Placid, New York. These Games marked the third time the United States hosted the Winter Olympics, as well as the second time Lake Placid hosted the Winter Games, the first being in 1932.

The only other candidate city to bid for the Games was Vancouver-Garibaldi, British Columbia, which withdrew before the final vote.
