Olympics Wiki
Olympics Wiki is a community of editors, athletes, sports fans, students, and others dedicated to preserving and spreading information having to do with various Olympic games throughout history. In addition to building a comprehensive Olympics site unlike any other, we aim to generate excitment about the upcoming summer and winter games and highlight feature stories and spotlight athletes. Also, stay tuned for Wikia driven contests and games, as well as television schedules, competition line-ups and more as we get closer to the London 2012 games.
Anyone is free to join our community! If you are new to using wikis, it is easy to join in - you can start by voting on a poll or a top 10 list. As you get used to joining in, dive in and add photos, edit articles, or add your own page!
We also encourge dialogue - if you have burning topic please share it at the community forum. As always, you can address any questions directly to the most active administrators on the site: Porterfield and Gaelen S.
Featured Stories
Twelve female members of Great Britain's Olympic team recently made a splash (in every sense of the word) in the British press. The National Lottery and British Gas have sponsored the dreams of these future Olympians, who compete in swimming, diving, water polo, synchronized swimming, and even Paralympic swimming. The athletes earned the moniker "Britain's Olympic Water Babes" as they shed their usual swimwear and posed underwater in the nude! There is no easier way to earn a sponsorship, as we learned last year when Lindsey Vonn and other Winter Olympics athletes posed for the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition. It should be noted that this photo is not 100% real, as they had to photograph each athlete individually, using £10,000 of camera equipment, and photo-shop them together.
