Rebecca Soni is a swimmer who has competed for the United States. She qualified for the U.S. swimming team at the 2008 and 2012 Summer Olympic Games. She won a total of six medals throughout her Olympic career, including two individual golds in the 200 metres breaststroke. She also held the world record for a year until Rikke Møller Pedersen lowered it at the 2013 FINA World Championships in Barcelona, Spain. Soni became the first woman in history to swim her signature race under the 2:20 barrier and the first to successfully defend her title in the event's Olympic history.
