Taoufik Makhloufi is a track and field athlete who has competed for Algeria. He competed at the 2012 and 2016 Summer Olympic Games. During the 2012 Olympic Games, he reached the final of the 1500 metres, after which he was forced to run the heats of the 800 metres, despite not wanting to, in order to save his energy. In those heats, he dropped out early, and was disqualified for not showing enough effort, even though a medical statement proved otherwise. He won gold on the 1500 metres the next day.
