Gold medal

Ted Ligety is a champion alpine ski racer from the United States. He was the 2006 Olympic gold medalist in the combined and a four-time World Cup champion in giant slalom (2008, 2010, 2011, and 2013). Ligety won the gold medal in the giant slalom at the 2011 World Championships and successfully defended his world title in giant slalom in 2013 in Schladming, Austria, where he also won an unexpected gold medal in the super G and a third gold medal in the super combined.

Through October 2013, he has 20 victories (19 in giant slalom and 1 super-combined) and 41 podiums in World Cup competition.

Sochi 2014Edit

Ligety won combined gold at the 2006 Games in Italy, but was unable to repeat his success in 2010 in Vancouver. Since then, however, the American has been on a tear and is considered by many to be the best men's skier in the world. He's expected to win multiple medals in Sochi.
